Jan 24th, my grind continues

Here are my stats from today's sessions at BetOnline.

Actually, the first session was more like break even because I cashed out in a key hand and DriveHud doesn't record it properly if you cash out. The second session I did lose though, mostly just because of this hand:

Just Gotta Lose That Money

BB was a fish (as if you couldn't tell but his cold call two to the face then drop out once the four bet comes) but he's pretty much irrelevant to the hand anyway.

PL Omaha 0.25(BB)

BTN ($40.31) [VPIP: 30.5% | PFR: 18.6% | AGG: 15.7% | 3-Bet: 10% | Fold to 3-Bet: 0% | 4-Bet: 0% | Hands: 59]

Dealt to Hero: Ah Ad 3h 4h

UTG Folds, HJ Calls $0.25, HERO Raises To $1.10, BTN Raises To $3.90, SB Folds, BB Calls $3.65, HJ Folds, HERO Raises To $15.95, BTN Calls $12.05, BB Folds

Hero SPR on Flop: [0.67 effective]

Flop ($36.15): Kc 4s Kd

HERO Bets $7.10 (Rem. Stack: $19.27), BTN Raises To $24.36 (allin), HERO Calls $17.26 (Rem. Stack: $2.01)

Turn ($84.87): Kc 4s Kd Ks

River ($84.87): Kc 4s Kd Ks Js

BTN shows: Jc Ts Qh Kh

BTN wins: $82.67

I mean, what can I really do? I hate the flop, but am I going to check fold with the SPR being what it is? I think bet small - call is clearly better than potting. Checking might be an idea. But it really sucks losing a big pot like this, especially when like 10 of my tables were PLO 10. But whatever.

A Mistake

This next hand I do think I erred in my decision to raise stack off on the flop. Maybe this is a consequence of playing too many tables and not thinking through my decisions enough.

The problem with this hand is BB's stats. Look at them. He's a massive nit. So that means we have to treat his lead in a four way pot with respect.

PL Omaha 0.1(BB)
BB ($10.50) [VPIP: 24.8% | PFR: 5.1% | AGG: 16.7% | Flop Agg: 17.5% | Turn Agg: 10% | River Agg: 25% | 3-Bet: 0% | 4-Bet: 0% | Cold Call: 46.4% | Hands: 119]

Dealt to Hero: Ac Kc Qd 5h

HJ Raises To $0.35, CO Folds, HERO Calls $0.35, SB Calls $0.30, BB Calls $0.25

Hero SPR on Flop: [6.89 effective]
Flop ($1.40): 6d Qc Ks
SB Checks, BB Bets $0.66 (Rem. Stack: $9.49), HJ Folds, HERO Raises To $3.31 (Rem. Stack: $10.56), SB Folds, BB Raises To $10.15 (allin), HERO Raises To $13.87 (allin)

Now kings and queens is just too strong to fold. But that doesn't mean we need to raise stack off. With SPR of 7 we are just never, ever, ever getting it in good vs a nit. Which means we have to call. Maybe he can have some AKT hands that are ok made hand and nut gutty or pair + wrap that we are competitive against. We do block top and middle set, so we have a lot of incentive to continue. But raise stack off vs a nit I think is a bad play.

Turn ($25.42): 6d Qc Ks Tc

River ($25.42): 6d Qc Ks Tc 7s

BB shows: 3d Kh Kd 3c

BB wins: $20.42

I'm So Fancy

BTN is a whale, but his AGG%  is kind of low. Note that we have an 891 sample, so these #s are beginning to become descriptive. From memory he does seem a bit passive, but he can make some plays too. After doing some opposition research (reviewing hands opponent played in drivehud) I conclude he is very loose passive and doesn't bluff much.

BTN ($42.46) [VPIP: 74.2% | PFR: 26.9% | AGG: 24.7% | Flop Agg: 19.4% | Turn Agg: 31% | 3-Bet: 7.2% | 4-Bet: 9.5% | Cold Call: 72.2% | Hands: 891]

Dealt to Hero: 6h As Kh Ad

HJ Folds, CO Folds, BTN Calls $0.25, HERO Raises To $1, BB Folds, BTN Calls $0.75

Hero SPR on Flop: [10.67 effective]
Flop ($2.25): Kd Ks 7s
HERO Bets $0.55 (Rem. Stack: $23.45), BTN Calls $0.55 (Rem. Stack: $40.91)

Here I opt for a tiny bet on the flop. Maybe a little too fancy, although I don't mind the idea. Given my dry ace and my king, villain won't have a lot of continues. This is also a board I want to bet at a high frequency. Maybe 1/4 or 1/3rd is better? I do think this is a good board to bet small on, it is very static, I've got a huge range advantage imo and will want to c-bet a lot of my broadway based air and spades.

Turn ($3.35): Kd Ks 7s 8s
HERO Bets $2.10 (Rem. Stack: $21.35), BTN Raises To $6.58 (Rem. Stack: $34.33), HERO Folds

My thought on the turn was to fold out flushes. This in retrospect was a mistake because villain is probably not folding a flush. As it turns out he presumably had a boat. Turn is probably just a check/fold, given that villain doesn't bluff. Checking gives him the opportunity to make the mistake of not bluffing, and if he bets we are probably drawing too slim to continue. This line (flop turn combo line with tiny flop bet and large turn bet) might work better vs a weak tight player that would fold a flush on the turn.

BTN wins: $7.06

Take Two To The Face

In poker when it goes raise reraise you almost never continue with your hand preflop. Either you have AA and you four bet, or you fold, especially at 100 bb effective. But there are a few extremely powerful hands that can continue. Whether or not this is one of them, I don't know. But something like KK66 ds seems like a clear continue if you can't four bet it yourself, especially if you think the pot is going multiway.

PL Omaha 0.1(BB)
BTN ($9.95) [VPIP: 62.5% | PFR: 25% |  3-Bet: 0% | Hands: 8]
SB ($11.94) [VPIP: 33.8% | PFR: 19.9% | 3-Bet: 6.2% |  Hands: 935]

Dealt to Hero: Js Jd 3d 3s

HJ Folds, CO Calls $0.10, BTN Raises To $0.30, SB Raises To $1.10, HERO Calls $1, CO Folds, BTN Calls $0.80

BTN is a whale so I figured we'd go three way here.

The raw equity doesn't present a compelling case for calling.

It appears the size of the second pair makes a big difference. Which makes sense I guess, bottom set can be a troublesome holding.

Here is the graph of equity distributions on the flop. It's not great. We are only going to really smash the flop with > 80% equity 5% of the time. We'll have 40% equity about 1/3rd of the time. And it looks like we are going to have to fold a substantial chunk of our equity post flop, those 60% of the time we flop 20% or less and just give up. All our back door flushes and turn and river sets.

Hero SPR on Flop: [2.6 effective]
Flop ($3.40): 5d 2d 8h
SB Checks, HERO Bets $3.19 (Rem. Stack: $5.71), BTN Calls $3.19 (Rem. Stack: $5.66), SB Folds

On the flop it's not exactly clear what to do either. Jacks with a J hi fd is not exactly a dream holding. But once the three bettor check gives up (a little weak on this texture? even with the two tone board. i mean my range is nowhere near this flop.).

Turn ($9.78): 5d 2d 8h 6d
HERO Bets $5.71 (allin), BTN Folds

HERO wins: $9.14
