 post session recap

imo, another great session.  probably lost a bunch, I still don't know, but overall I feel great about my play and my decisions. I feel I grew a lot this session. Unfortunately a lot of pots didn't go my way. I lost a few flips, got a bad run out when I slow played my set, and then made a bad cold call pre which caused me to end the session. But I had a great heads up battle, and over all I think my play was excellent with a good touch of creativity. I felt great the whole time, and my mental game was strong until the end when it wasn't and I quit immediately. This was a session of growth.

Alright. I finally looked at my results. -$161 for my first session, and $-227 for my second. It looks bad at first glance, losing at a rate of around 80 bb / 100! But let's look at some hands.

First one, KKT9s, I four bet pre MP vs BU against aggro whale playing 69/46/26 (26% three bet) over 180 hands. A non standard four bet but a fine adapation to an overly aggro opponent imo. I am a 2:1 favourite against his actual hand, QJT9. He flats, flop comes J52, and we GII.  I'm a 64% favourite but lose. So this hand was fine imo.

Next hand is a possible punt. I three bet J987ss against TAG BU open. You can see the whole hand here :

Third largest pot I GII in three bet pot with 70% equity and lose. Then AA all in pre and lose.

Then I had another hand where I flat QQ to a three bet, flop comes AQ9 and I station down on K, T run out vs half pot sizing throughout. I like my flop and turn play, this is a board where villain is going to be betting his range in a three bet pot. I dislike the river call, since villain should have at least two pair most of the time and have no need to bluff this runout or value bet worse.

Anyway, two losing sessions, but over all I feel good about my play and am not worried at all. Most of the pots I lost I had 50% equity or more. And the ones where I had less I still had more than 40%. Aside from the QQ hand where I was a huge favourite on flop and turn, and got rivered and lost a half pot bet there. But I think that hand was fine.

So an 8 buyin downswing over less than 1000 hands. And potentially a consequence of my more loose aggro style. But mostly variance and I felt I played well. And this doesn't really impact my bankroll.  I am completely fine to keep grinding PLO $50.

Areas of my game to work on?

One area I need improvement on is playing fewer tables AND taking more time to think through my decisions carefully.
