How The Heck Do You Play 2-7 Triple Draw?

Recently I played a $0.5 tournament. It was an eight game satellite into a $5 tournament. Don't laugh. Anyway, the first game was 2-7 triple draw.  My first hand was 4c 5d Ah 7s Kc or as we 2-7 triple draw players call it, a two-card draw to a seven. I am obviously going to throw away my king and my ace. Actually, I could get lucky and hit a 2 and a 3 in which case I would make the nuts! That is pretty unlikely. So in retrospect, this is a pretty weak hand. And the reason being if we catch an 8, 6, or 3, we improve but have a straight draw so our one card draw will be weak. Even though we are effective in the CO here because the BU is sitting out, we should still have open folded this hand.  There is a good discussion of preflop ranges on 2+2 here

Jan 24th, my grind continues

Here are my stats from today's sessions at BetOnline . Actually, the first session was more like break even because I cashed out in a key hand and DriveHud doesn't record it properly if you cash out. The second session I did lose though, mostly just because of this hand: Just Gotta Lose That Money BB was a fish (as if you couldn't tell but his cold call two to the face then drop out once the four bet comes) but he's pretty much irrelevant to the hand anyway. today

Fuck me, what a day. Technically a day I guess, even though I have slept for four hours between now and midnight. Anyway, today I broke even. It all started at 22:22 last night. Which I guess is 10:22 pm.  This screenshot below actually captures the sentiment of the evening pretty well. Essentially just a 3000 hand struggle to break even. The bad news is, my sleep schedule is fucked. On the other hand, I am still sleeping.  Also, I managed to repeat my 4 hr 2000 hand session from yesterday. Technically that was 01/19 2.42 am start and then 'today' my 4 hour session was 01/19 10:22 pm start. But whatever. I slept for like 4-5 hours before the 10 pm session, and then for another 4 or 5 hours after it. Roughly. Too many caffeine pills maybe. Bottom line, 6255 hands in the last 30 hours. That's pretty good. Account balances : BO : 1618.70 PS : 81.50 Total 1700, +630 usd.  I was able to play 12 tables pretty well. It's definitely a challenge that requires my full attention, ...

My Current Grind : Week 1 : PLO $.05/$0.10 and PLO $.10/$.25

Here are the results for this week's grind at BetOnline  Money Won : I don't know if you can actually see anything on this graph, but I've won $300 so far. You might have to click these images to make them more visible. There is some inaccuracies here because if you do an all in cash out, it doesn't factor that in. But actually so far these have all balanced out and based on my cashier balance I am about $290 ahead from where I started. This is over a 5 day period. Mostly I have been doing 1 hour, 300-400 hand sessions, which seems to be working well.  Goals : My short term goals are to get 'established' at .10/.25. Mainly, I want to get in a good volume of hands and generate a strong winning sample. I want to steadily increase my daily volume, and I want to study. Come February 1st I will do a review and see if I am ready to shot take .25/.50. I am eager to move up, but definitely do not have the bankroll to do so yet, nor do I have a recent sample at .10/.25. ...

Anatomy of a losing session

I had a losing session today playing PLO $10 at BetOnline . I think I played okay. Let's look the biggest losses. One hand I got it in mostly pre with AJ93 ds vs JT55 single suited. Actually villain somehow is a 51% favourite, but my hand is a lot better than his imo. Or maybe not. Whether we are going up against a loose range  Or a tight range   My hand has substantially more equity. And vs a 100% range, I am a 55/44 favourite.  Hand History driven straight to this forum with DriveHUD Poker Tracking Software - http://drivehud.com PL Omaha 0.1(BB) HJ ($15.69) [VPIP: 65.2% | PFR: 26.1% | AGG: 20% | Hands: 23] CO ($10) [VPIP: 19.7% | PFR: 6.8% | AGG: 28.6% | Hands: 132] SB ($44.69) [VPIP: 77.5% | PFR: 50% 3-Bet: 46.7% Hands: 42] Dealt to Hero: Jc Ad 3c 9d UTG Folds, HJ Raises To $0.35, CO Calls $0.35, HERO Calls $0.35, SB Raises To $1.85, BB Folds, HJ Calls $1.50, CO Folds, HERO Raises To $7.85, SB Calls $6, HJ Folds We also end up trapping some dead money from HJ esp...
